Brayden Yuki is the eldest son and child of Kojiro and Aki Yuki, the older brother of Jaden and Reina Yuki, nephew of Akemi Yuki and the boyfriend of Miya Shiraki. During his second year at Duel Academy, Brayden went missing alongside many other students including Atticus Rhodes.

Physical description

Brayden is a min-copy of his father, having the same dark brown hair and light golden-brown eyes. His hair goes to his shoulder, and has a spiky-style with his bans almost reaching his eyes. He was last seen wearing the standard white-and-blue Obelisk Blue long-tailed jacket, which he leaves open, over a black long-sleeve turtleneck-shirt, jeans and boots. His deck case is attached to a brown belt around his waist.

Brayden is a calm, yet firm, and friendly guy with a love for dueling, something that he shares with Jaden. There are times when he gets annoyed–mostly at Atticus–but still cares for the crazy teen. He has a normal sibling relationship with Jaden and Reina. He cares greatly for them and will easily step in to protect them. He is much more protective over Reina, which is most likely due to her being the youngest and sister–much to her annoyance. Like normal siblings, all three do get on each other's nerves at times but still care for one another.

Despite his upbeat and friendly personality, Brayden does have issues in the love area. He had issues with trying to ask MIya Shiraki out after he formed a crush on her. He eventually got over the issue and did ask her out

Prior to the series

Brayden is Kojiro and Aki Yuki's first born child and eldest son. Two years later, his mother gave birth to his younger brother, Jaden, and three years after that, his sister Reina. All three rarely saw their parents since they were always busy working, they were mostly raised by their brother's younger sister, Akemi. Growing up, Brayden loved Duel Monsters just as much as his siblings did. When Jaden played "Yubel" and of the neighborhood kids collapsed, Brayden felt something off about the card. He couldn't put his finger on it, but something felt weird.

After Jaden sent "Yubel" and his "Neo-Spacian" designs into Space, the thought of "Yubel" vanished and he forgot about the card. He still dueled with his siblings and eventually began to make his own deck while Jaden and Reina built their "Elemental Hero" and "Gem-Knight" decks.

At age 15, he applied for Duel Academy and got accepted. He met and befriended a bunch of other first years, along with Zane Truesdale, Atticus Rhodes and Miya Shiraki–who he got a crush on at first glance. But because he didn't attend a Dueling Prep School, Brayden was placed in Ra Yellow, but to his surprise none of the cared. At some point in time, Brayden got promoted to Obelisk Blue and finally got over his fear in asking Miya out. The two began to date during the middle of the school year.

However, when he returned for his second year, Brayden along with Atticus and other students suddenly went missing.

Trials of Darkness

Brayden is mentioned in the first chapter by Brooke Rivers who is watching the Duel Academy Entrance Exams alongside Zane.

Akemi Yuki

Brayden has an extremely close bond with his father's younger sister, Akemi. Akemi pretty much raised Brayden due to Kojiro unable to as he was always away working.

Miya Shiraki

Miya is Brayden's girlfriend, and the one person he often comes to vent out his issues. Brayden cares very much for Miya and is protective of her. The two originally met in their first year at Duel Academy. With help from his Duel Spirit, Brayden eventually was able to ask her out...when it was almost the end of the school year.

Kojiro and Aki Yuki

He never had the closes relationship with his father due to Kojiro always working and being away, which caused Brayden to be raised mostly by his aunt. Even after his father married Aki, their relationship is still rocky. His relationship with Aki is uncertain. Whenever someone asks him he just changes the subject as quickly as he can and will walk away to avoid talking about her. Not even Brooke is able to get him to talk about Aki.

He will acknowledge his father and step-mother, but that's about it. Most of the time he'll just down right walk past them and say nothing.

Jaden and Reina Yuki

Brayden's relationship with his step-siblings are better than he has with his own parents. Brayden cares deeply for the two and will always help them if they need it. He does get annoyed at Jaden at times when he does things without thinking, but still loves and cares for him.

  • Brayden was originally named Kurai.
