Miya was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, before moving when she was ten to Domino City. She eventually met and befriended Zane Truesdale who became her best friend and almost brother-like figure since she was an only child. She had met Syrus but doesn't remember much about him since she mostly hung out with Zane.
At age fifteen, she applied and got accepted into Duel Academy. Through Zane, she met his friend Atticus Rhodes, who she found very funny. It was through Atticus that she met Brayden Yuki but nothing went further than friendship through another friend.

Miya duels with an Butterfly/Butterspy Deck focusing on weakening the enemy's monsters, by changing their Battle Positions and decreasing the opponent's monsters stats and keeping her Life Points safe.
